Project Overview

The client contacted us via our website, and wanted to transform the house they have been living in for 3 years into a smart home. The original idea was to focus mainly on lighting, but after arranging a visit to the client’s home and discussing all available options, the client started to realise the possibilities of a real smart home, and very quickly wanted some additional features.

The main priority was to replace the standard light switches that were installed in the property with smart light switches that could be controlled from anywhere, without losing the functionality of manual control. After a quick look at the electrical installation, we were happy to inform the client their lighting installation included neutral on the switches, which allowed them to choose between all the smart light switches available on the market, and there was no need to rewire the house. They also wanted an interesting touch for the living room, and they decided to install an RGB LED strip all around the living room, together with a stretch ceiling for a stunning result.

Replacing the heating system is something the client hadn´t contemplated before we met, but after we explained to them the potential of a smart heating system with smart radiator valves for complete control and energy savings, the client decided to give us the green light to integrate a Tado thermostat and TRVs and create some automations so that only the occupied rooms are heated up, saving them a lot of energy.

We also included automations to switch off lights and appliances that are not being used, and switch off the whole house automatically (including heating and hot water) while they are away or on holiday. Our platform also informs the client about the current electricity price, and the cheapest moments of the day for their electricity tariff, allowing them to run the dishwasher, washing machine, and other appliances at the most efficient moment every day. All this resulted in a reduction of 33% of their electricity bill.

To give the client more control over their smart home, we integrated all the devices into a single mobile application and we drew an interactive 3D Floor Plan of their house that they will use to view the status and interact with all their devices from one place, no matter where they are in the world.

We also integrated other smart devices, including some provided by the client, into our platform, like a door lock, a robot vacuum, a TV, an electric blind (with automations to open/close automatically in the morning and evening), a doorbell, and others. Some of the automations we set up included sending notifications to the client´s phone when the main door is unlocked, switching off all the lights, TV, and other devices just with the touch of a button located near the main door when the client leaves the house, or turning the bathroom fan on only after someone takes a shower rather than every time the light is on.
